State Theater nears reopening

by Mark Brown

In the 1990, Sioux Falls was the home to seven theaters to include the State Theater.  People started abandoning the older theaters for bigger screens and better sound systems and the State Theater closed it's doors in the mid-1990s.

With help from the family of 91-year-old Sylvia Henkin whose family donated over 500-thousand dollars, the newly renovated and renamed Sylvia R. Henkin State Theatre will open it's doors and once again welcome the public.

Greg Belfrage talked to executive director Stephen Williamson about the anticipated reopening of the landmark theater that closed so many years ago.
