Eric Van Beek, Director of Operations and Quarterback Chris Dixon Joined Greg Belfrage to discuss the Storm's effort to raise awareness about child abuse.
During the Sioux Falls Storm home game against the Wyoming Calvary on April 19th, the team is partnering with the Childrens Inn, Waterbury Heating & Cooling, Coleman and Fluxxr to raise awareness about child abuse. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The event seeks to fulfill three purposes: to raise awareness about child abuse, to encourage strong families in the Sioux Empire and to raise money for the Childrens Inn.
Childrens Inn offers shelter, crisis intervention and on-going counseling to children and women who are victims of domestic violence. The shelter provided services to 554 children during 2013.
There will be multiple ways for fans to be involved during the game. The Storm is asking game goers to create a sea of blue, partially to show support for the team, but also to match the blue ribbon that represents National Child Abuse Prevention month. The first 1000 fans to offer a free-will donation will receive a complimentary #storm4kids t-shirt, courtesy of Waterbury Heating & Cooling.
