With the State Legislature in session, Gerald Beninga tells Greg Belfrage he is hopeful for two things to happen"
1. Medicaid, because the county is responsible for health and Human Services and indigent care which is a growing part of the counties business.
2. Public Safety Issues, because the county is responsible for the negative growth portion of government which includes law enforcement, jails and taking care of the indigent.
There is a 28-percent of growth in felony cases and the growth in drugs has more than doubled.
When someone is arrested, the county pays for their jail, food and medical bills.
Our jail now is 400 beds, within the next 10 years it will need to be at least 700 beds.
