Johnson on climate change threats

by
S.D. Senator Tim Johnson (KELO AM)
S.D. Senator Tim Johnson (KELO AM)

Undated (KELO-AM) U-S Senator Tim Johnson (D) says South Dakota may already be experiencing the weather extremes of climate change.

Johnson points to the 2011 floods followed by the 2012 drought, followed by last year's October blizzard.

Johnson, who will be retiring after the end of his current term, says continued progress in the use of ethanol and wind power in South Dakota is part of the battle against the threats of climate change.

Eight candidates are running to replace the retiring Johnson - five Republicans, one Democrat and two independents.
