Mark Russo reports (Download MP3)

Undated (KELO-AM) South Dakota storm chaser Scott Sheppard wound up videotaping himself getting hit by lightening as he followed a violent storm Tuesday near Fairburn in Western South Dakota.

Sheppard tells the Weather Channel that it felt like sticking his finger into a light socket when he was a kid, only more intense.  He says hindsight tells him he shouldn't have had his arm out the window as he was videotaping the storm.

The videotape has the loud boom when the lightening hits and then shows the debris flying into the air from the hole the strike made in the highway.
