Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether and family will donate $700 thousand toward the indoor tennis facility project at the Sanford Sports Complex. Once completed, the tennis center will be named after the Huether family.
Mayor Huether says that he's been blessed in life and wants to bless the city. He says along with helping to build the center, his donation will also make the facility more accessible to the disabled and low income people, and help fund two tennis tournaments during the Winter.
The Huether pledge was approved by the cities ethics board, as Huether does not stand to benefit financially from having his name on the tennis courts. Huether also promises to remove himself from any city decisions regarding the tennis complex.
Ground breaking for the $3.8 million dollar building could happen in the next few weeks so as to keep on target for opening in the Fall..
