Undated (KELO-AM) The Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills will host two days of events honoring the life and legacy of matriarch Ruth Ziolkowski, who died this week at the age of 87.
Mike Morgan with the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation says that on Monday - Memorial Day - there will be a unique public viewing of the casket from 11 to 3 in the studio of the original log cabin built by Ruth and her sculpter husband, Korczak, back in 1948. It was that year that the couple started carving the monumental likeness of legendary Sioux War Chief Crazy Horse.
Then on Tuesday, May 27, there will be a celebration of life with speakers, prayers, a Lakota drum group, and some of Ruth's favorite hymns, including Amazing Grace.
Admissions fees will be waived for both of these events.
Ruth will be buried at the foot of the Memorial next to her husband.
