Undated (KELO-AM) The latest statewide poll has incumbent Dennis Daugaard (R) with well over 50% support for re-election. The other candidates are far behind in the poll conducted on behalf of the American News in Aberdeen, KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls, and KOTA-TV in Rapid City.
The poll also takes the pulse of the U-S Senate Race. If the November election were held today, Republican frontrunner Mike Rounds would beat Democrat Rick Weiland 44% to 30%. The poll results suggest that independent Larry Pressler would take votes from both men.
South Dakota primaries are June 3. The general election is November 4.
