Pierre, SD (KELO-AM) Governor Dennis Daugaard started the first week after the 2014 State Legislature adjourned with 74 bills on his desk, still awaiting decisions.
Some of them are controversial, including the state-wide texting-while-driving ban and a bill that bans abortions based on gender. All the budget bills, the bills that actually fund South Dakota, are still to be decided.
Daugaard spokesman, Tony Venhuizen, says the Governor will read each bill carefully, solicit advice when he needs it, and with the controversial bills, will actually go back and listen to the recorded testimony from legislative committees.
State lawmakers come back to Pierre for a one day session March 31st to consider any bills that Daugaard vetoes.
