Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) There are giant toilet paper rolls in three locations in Sioux Falls to make a comical point about a serious subject.
The South Dakota Department of Health is using a federal grant to get the word out in a unique way that colorectal cancer is the second mostly deadly cancer in the state. The giant toilet paper rolls are disguised hay bales, with the message: "Stop the #2 Killer. GetScreenSD.org."
The Department's Linda Ahrendt says colorectal cancer is almost 100% treatable when caught early. She says the purpose of the toilet paper campaign is to get people to talk to their doctor, especially if they are over 50.
The giant toilet paper rolls are located at 100 E. 6th Street, 108 S. JMinnesota Avenue, and at 1604 W. 41st Street. They are also in other locations around South Dakota.
