SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Here’s the latest from the City of Sioux Falls on storm and flooding recovery.
- LOOKING AT DAMAGE FROM TREE ROOTS
The City of Sioux Falls is deploying survey teams to assess infrastructure damage from uprooted trees.
They are documenting damage to sidewalks and curb and gutters.
They are also counting the number of tree root balls and stumps that need to be removed in the public right of way.
- GRINDING GOING GOOD
The City of Sioux Falls says traffic remains steady at the two tree and brush drop off points.
The City says over 300 tons of ground-up wood has been hauled off already from the sites.
Sites at Chambers and Cliff avenue and at 12th and Lyon Boulevard will continue to take tree debris for free until the end of the month.
- TWO MORE PARKS REOPEN
Two more Sioux Falls parks have opened after flooding.
Tomar Park and the Greenway are now open.
Legacy, Yankton Trail, Spencer, Tuthill, Pasley, and Rotary Parks remain closed.
- ONE STREET OPENS, ANOTHER REMAINS CLOSED
Rice Street between Veteran’s Parkway and Cleveland Avenue is now open in Sioux Falls.
The City of Sioux Falls says 60th Street North will remain closed between Minnesota and Westport Avenues through the end of the week.
The City is still assessing the road and bridge and BNSF is working on their railroad tracks.
- HELP STILL NEEDED
The 2-1-1 Helpline Center will hold a “Volunteer Sioux Falls” event Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Volunteers will go out into the community to help with storm cleanup.
There’s still a need for pickups, trucks, and trailers to haul off debris.
