Dell Rapids, SD (KELO-AM) A gas line fire shot flames 35 feet in the air on Tuesday in central Dell Rapids, forcing authorities to close off a two block section of town.
There happened to be children at Dell Rapids-St. Mary's Catholic School so they were evacuated, as were some other residents, just for safety's sake.
Minnehaha County Emergency Manager Lynn DeYoung says that it looks like a contractor hit the gas line. He says there were no injuries and no buildings or other structures are in danger.
Mid-American crews were working to clamp off the line, even as fire trucks doused the fire to keep it from spreading.
