Gary Anderson excited for tough test to start season against LSU

(WNFL)- Wisconsin football coach Gary Andersen says both his players and coaches are excited about playing national powerhouse LSU on August 30th in Houston. At the Big Ten Media Days in Chicago, Andersen said the experience will give the Badgers an edge going into the rest of the season. He said the atmosphere will feel like a bowl game -- and he does not believe the match-up would ever have been scheduled in Madison. As the UW and LSU talked about a two-game series, Andersen said it became apparent early on that they'd have to be played on a neutral field. He credits Badgers' athletic director Barry Alvarez for having an open mind on the matter. Houston gives more LSU alumni a chance to see their Tigers. The second game in the series is set for Lambeau Field in Green Bay in 2016. Although the fans would love to see the matchups at Camp Randall, Andersen says there's real value for the team in starting with a marquee game. Next year, Wisconsin opens against Alabama at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas.
