Pierre, SD (KELO-AM) Governor Dennis Daugaard (R) says he is disappointed and frustrated that he was not told before hand that illegal immigrant children from the border crisis were moved to South Dakota.
His Spokesman Tony Venhuizen says Daugaard found out about the kids just shortly before the media got the story from Federal officials Thursday afternoon. There are at least 21 children in South Dakota, believed to be with family or friends, awaiting deportation hearings.
Venhuizen says the Administration has promised the Governor monthly updates on the number of additional immigrant children, if any, being moved to South Dakota.
Tens of thousands of children from Central America have been flooding across the Mexican border into the United States, overwelming government and social services.
