Pierre, SD (KELO-AM) The State House Appropriations Committee Thursday effectively killed raising education funding in South Dakota higher than proposed by Governor Daugaard.
Daugaard proposed a 3% increase. This plan would have increased education funding by 3.8%
Sandra Waltman for the South Dakota Education Association told lawmakers that funding public schools helps fund jobs - that higher funding leads to better teacher retention.
But lawmakers were concerned about where the extra money would come from.
