SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) – Following a statement about EB-5 discussions turning into a political debate, Rep. Susan Wismer has requested that Sen. Larry Tidemann allow Democratic legislative leaders to choose a proxy to sit in for her at theSeptember 24 GOAC meeting. She spoke with Tidemann on Wednesday morning to request permission to use a proxy.
“We need to get the bottom of this, and in order to do that, key EB-5 decision-makers need to answer questions from committee members in person. The people of South Dakota deserve to know the truth about EB-5. If my campaign and membership on the committee creates a conflict, I’m more than willing to step aside during this meeting so South Dakotans can get answers without the meeting turning into political theater,” said Rep. Wismer.
Rep. Susan Wismer made a motion to subpoena Joop Bollen at the July GOAC meeting, but it failed to receive a second. Wismer has also called on other major players to testify, including Governor Dennis Daugaard, Mike Rounds, and Jeff Sveen.
“From the beginning, I’ve been searching for answers for the people of South Dakota. Serving on behalf of South Dakotans and seeking answers for them is my top priority.”
A decision regarding Wismer’s request for a proxy has not yet been made.
