Washington DC (KELO-AM) South Dakota tribes have joined an colorful encampment of tipis and covered wagons on the National Mall in Washington for a week of protests against the Keystone Pipeline.

The Rosebud's John Spotted Tail says alot of non-indians only see the green dollar, but his people are there on the Mall to protect the land and water from Keystone.

Cheyenne River's Robin Lebeaux says it is a peaceful protest to get President Obama to say 'no' to the permit to build the pipeline across West River South Dakota and other states.

The protestors plan to give a hand-painted tipi to the President.

Supporters of the project say the pipeline will help make America energy independent and create jobs in South Dakota and in the rest of the country.
