SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The City is picking up household and yard debris in three Sioux Falls' neighborhood as part of project NICE.
Public Health Manager LuAnn Ford says 25 years ago the City noticed an increase in the number of nuisance issues and complaints.
Every year the Health Department takes about 1.500 calls from citizens concerned about neighbors violating property nuisance codes. NICE identifies specific neighborhoods at risk of nuisance concerns and helps those residents clean and haul away debris.
Through NICE and KEEP, a followup program to keep the neighborhood on guard, the City has been able to keep nuisance cases static despite a 33% increase in population.
