Crews to begin litter pickup along interstate system next week

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) The South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin picking up litter and other items from the interstate right-of-way in Sioux Falls on Monday, April 14, 2014. Crews will begin cleaning up Interstate 29, then move to Interstate 229, and finish with Interstate 90. Cleanup may take four to five weeks to complete. Drivers are asked to use caution and reduce speeds while traveling in areas where crews are working.

Three Public Works Street Division crews also currently are sweeping about 1,700 curb miles of city streets. Each crew includes a flusher truck to control dust, two sweepers, and two dump trucks that remove the material collected. Drivers are asked to use caution when in or near sweeping work areas. Daily sweeping progress reports and a map of the street sweeping districts can be found at www.siouxfalls.org/sweeping.
