Police believe drugs are reason behind Sunday's early morning shooting

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police say a Sioux Falls man is expected to survive despite being shot in the head and shoulder while sleeping early Sunday morning in his duplex on South Terry Avenue

Officer Sam Clemens says the unknown suspect got inside the victim’s room and fired three times, one shot missing and going through the wall into the neighbor’s duplex.

Clemens says detectives are still trying to piece together what happened.  Clemens says investigators believe the incident is drug related and that there's no danger to the public.  He says detectives have a lot of people that need to be found and interviewed.

Clemens says one round hit the 33-year-old victim in the left temple and came out his right cheek.
