VERMILLION, S.D. (KWSN)– Junior Kendall Kritenbrink tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 17 kills and 11 digs as South Dakota volleyball toppled defending Summit League champion Fort Wayne in the DakotaDome on Friday night in straight sets, 25-18, 26-24, 25-22.
The Coyotes (10-6, 1-0) never trailed in the first and third sets and finished the second set on a 15-6 run. USD also forced 10 attack errors in the first set and recorded 18 kills in the second. Kritenbrink tallied seven kills in the second set and had a seven kill-seven dig effort in the third.
Tori Kroll added a double-double for the Coyotes as well with 34 assists and 12 digs. Kelsey Biltoft added nine kills and Audrey Reeg dug out nine Fort Wayne (7-9, 0-1) attacks.
Emily Spencer, who ranks at the top of the Summit League in kills per set at 4.50, led Fort Wayne in kills with 12. No other Mastodon had more than six kills. Spencer also led Fort Wayne in digs with 13.
South Dakota will host IUPUI (6-10, 0-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
