SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The City and the Sioux Falls School District are a step closer to helping Minnehaha County buy three vote tabulation machines.
Minnehaha County Auditor Bob Litz sent each body an agreement to help fund election infrastructure.
Commissioner John Pekas says the deal is unique. He says it's one of those opportunities where the other governments are willing to help the county with cost of some of the elections. And, he says, by statute they don't have to because the cost of elections falls on the county 100%.
The Commission today amended the agreement with the school district to make it consistent with the city’s memorandum.
The school board will have to approve the change and send the measure back to the commission for final approval.
Litz says the machines are to be purchased in 2018.
