SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - As of this morning, the Rancher Relief Fund, for west river ranchers impacted by last month’s blizzard, totals $940,000.
Silvia Christen, with the Stockgrowers Associaton, says the Fund is accepting applications for assistance.
Christen says the fund will assist those who were hardest hit first and provide assistance to as many producers as possible. She says the Fund is considered by the federal government to be a part of the relief effort. She says the donations and the contributions to producers will be tax free.
Christen says the Stockgrower’s, Cattlemen’s and Sheepgrower’s Associations established the Fund.
She says the Rancher Relief Fund continues to accept donations. The Fund is administered by the Black Hills Area Community Foundation for the direct benefit of the livestockproducers impacted by last month's devastating blizzard.
