SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KWSN)– Augustana head men's golf coach Steve Klock announced today the signing of Parker Klitzke to a letter of intent to continue his academic and golf career at Augustana. Today is the first day of the early signing period for NCAA golf programs.
Klitzke, a native of Sioux Falls, S.D., is a senior at Lincoln High School where he will graduate in the spring as a four-year letterwinner in golf under head coach Lyle Pearson. Klitzke is a two-time All-Conference honoree and earned All-State honors as a junior with a fourth-place finish in the state tournament. In the past three seasons, Klitzke was a member of teams that placed first, second and third in the South Dakota AA State Tournament while finishing fourth as an individual in 2012.
Klitzke tied for individual medalist honors at the inaugural Metro Conference tournament in 2013, shooting a two-under-par 69. He was a top-third finisher in AJGA and PGA Junior events in 2013, competing in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska.
"Parker is a great player who will bring consistency to our lineup," Klock said. "He manages his game well and knows how to put up low numbers on the course. I am very excited that he chose to stay in Sioux Falls and play for Augustana.
"Augustana tied for sixth after the first two rounds of the NSIC Fall Championships earlier this season and will return to action this spring.
