SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Electric Utility companies from the United States, Canada and Mexico along with thousands of electrical workers, anti-terrorism experts and government officials will simulate a prolonged blackout drill next Tuesday and Wednesday. Regional Vice President of Xcel Energy, Laura McCarten told KELO news that they will be directly involved "so that we can respond quickly in the case of a cyber or physical attack on the grid simuliar to dealing with an ice storm as we did earlier this year... as it's all part of being prepared so that we can serve our customers and keep service reliable". The project called GridEx II is only a tabletop exerecise and will not affect electrical consumers in any way.
