BURNSVILLE, Minn. (KWSN) – Augustana's Grant Gebhardt earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his performance against Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday the league announced Monday.
Gebhardt, a native of Burwell, Neb., had a big day returning the football on special teams, setting Augustana up with great field position all game. Gebhardt returned five punts for 102 yards, including a career-long 39-yard return. Gebhardt also returned one kickoff 47 yards and finished the game with 157 all-purpose yards.
Gebhardt is the second Viking to earn NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week this season. Lucas Wainman earned the award on Sept. 9 after going 2 for 2 on field goals, including a school record 53-yard field goal against MSU Moorhead.
Augustana will play its final road game of the season next Saturday taking on Winona State at 1 p.m. at Verizon Wireless Stadium.
