Indianapolis, IN (KWSN) - The third and final NCAA Central Region baseball rankings have been released and the NSIC has three of the top eight teams. Minnesota State took over the top spot in the region, moving up from the second spot last week. St. Cloud State moved back to the fifth spot after dropping to sixth last week and Augustana makes its first appearance in the standing in the eight spot. They replace Wayne State who dropped out this week.
The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the NCAA Central Region this year. The top six teams in the region will advance to the NCAA region tournament on May 16-19. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining four spots are awarded on an at-large basis. The GAC does not have an automatic bid this season. The NCAA DII Selection show is set to air on NCAA.com on Sunday, May 12, at 9 p.m. (CDT).
