SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - An elderly Sioux Falls woman was scamed out of $2,300 dollars last weekend when someone claiming to be her son called and said he needed money.

     Officer Sam Clemens says the scam artist told the 75-year-old woman that he was in a car accident in Grenada.

     Clemens says after getting calls on Friday and Saturday she sent money orders both days.  On Sunday she called her son and realized she had been scammed.

     Clemens says there's little investigators can do to identify the suspects let alone retrieve the money.
