"Shop Around"

by Jerry Bader

No small irony that the President would accuse his critics of being "grossly misleading." As a listener emailed me this week, what President Obama apparently meant is "if I like your plan, you can keep it." To suggest that being able to "shop around" is the same as keeping your plan is laughable on its face. And Mr. Obama explains, "because of the tax credits we're offering and, (continuing after a heckler is escorted out), and the competition between insurers, most people will be able to get better comprehensive coverage plans for the same price or even cheaper..." Most people, huh? And what about those who don't qualify for the subsidies that make it "cheaper" for others, what about them? "Grossly misleading, indeed."
