Photos: Funnel clouds over Sioux Falls

Funnel clouds were spotted over northwest Sioux Falls during yesterday's thunderstorms. Fortunately, none of them touched down. It's a reminder that the rotation of these strong thunderstorms can produce nasty conditions with little or no warning.

Most of us fear tornadoes, but the odds are actually far greater that we'll be injured by lightning.

I spoke with Mike Fuhs of the Sioux Falls National Weather Service last Friday about the dangers posed by lightning. Documented lightning injuries average 300 per year in the United States.If you missed the interview, you can listen HERE .
