State lawmakers may soon be cracking down on commerical drivers on cell phones.
The state could lose a portion of federal highway funding unless lawmakers ban hand held phones for commercial drivers. A proposed transportion bill would make using a hand held phone while driving a "serious offense".

I've grown so weary of these intrusions by the federal government. This is yet another manipulation of the purse strings so the federal beauracracy can work its will at the state level.
You can bet state lawmakers will pass the bill. South Dakota simply can't afford to pass up 5% in federal highway funds.
