Lee Daniels latest directing/writing gig is The Butler, starring Forest Whitaker among many others:
Looks to be a pretty powerful and emotional film. If you didn't catch all of the faces in the trailer, here we go: Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack, Robin Williams, Terence Howard, Alan Rickman, Melissa Leo, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan and the list goes on and on and on. Wow. Whitaker hasn't done a lot of positively memorable roles since The Last King of Scotland but I am looking forward to seeing him once again in a prominent role. And Melissa Leo is always outstanding. She is near the top of my list of favorite actresses working today.
Lee Daniels is best known for directing Precious but more recently directed and co-wrote The Paperboy, a very good movie that will challenge you in many ways and probably end up making you feel a bit filthy. Daniels was also a producer on Monster's Ball.
No surprise that the movie is scheduled to be released mid to late October, just in time for Oscar season.
